The Mind Behind the Brand
Hello, and welcome! My name is Ali Hatmanshadow Reynolds — American dystopian fantasy and gothic fiction novelist, musician, songwriter, artist, and professional truck driver. Born in Savannah, Georgia and raised in Alabama, I've always been drawn to the spaces between light and shadow, where the most compelling stories live. While those careers may seem worlds apart, they all share one common purpose: to make the world a little brighter, one person at a time.
My life has been a fascinating journey filled with mystery, unexpected adventures, and more than a few twists worthy of a novel. Looking back, I suppose that was exactly what led me to become a dystopian fantasy author.
Many years ago, an experienced writer shared a piece of advice that has stayed with me ever since: "A good story has to be lived." I took those words to heart. Rather than rushing to publish, I spent eighteen years living my first novel — getting to know its characters, exploring its world, and allowing the story to grow naturally alongside my own experiences.
The Book
In 2025, that journey became my debut novel, In the Shadow of the Hatman: Murder, Mystery, Magic, Mayhem — a dark journey into the gothic and the unknown that blends mystery, magic, and the kind of mayhem that keeps you reading with the lights on. The Sound of Shadows
Storytelling doesn't stop at the page for me. As I searched for new ways to share my stories, I discovered songwriting. What began as a way to promote my work soon became another passion entirely. I found a genuine love for writing music, eventually releasing multiple albums and numerous original songs — atmospheric, moody, and unapologetically alternative. The Art
Then came another unexpected adventure: digital art. With the help of modern creative tools and AI, I discovered a new way to bring the worlds in my imagination to life. Suddenly, the creatures, heroes, monsters, and mysterious places that had lived only in my mind could become vivid works of art. That creative journey eventually led me to something I'd dreamed about for years — opening my own shop.
